Eships dabbles in charters to test the water for a return to dry bulk

Eships, the tanker arm of liquid logistics giant Tristar Group, has begun to re-establish its presence in the bulker market by engaging in some chartering activity.

According to Chris Peters, who was promoted from chief financial officer to chief executive in March, the Dubai company has been exploring the sector since May, arranging a handful of voyage charters using ultramax bulkers.

Tristar Sponsors Leaders in Logistics Summit 2017

Tristar was the Silver and main sponsor of the Leaders in Logistics Summit held today at the Grosvenor House in Dubai Marina. International Business Development Director Karl Mason was a panel member of the group which discussed Humanitarian Aid Logistics. There were two other panel discussions on the ‘Rise of E-Commerce’ and ‘What do you look for in a 3PL’. The individual speakers were: Mahmood Al Bastaki, CEO of Dubai Trade; Mark Geilenkirchen, CEO of SOHAR Port & Freezone; and Marcus Meissner, Managing Partner of Camelot Management Consultants. There were more than a hundred key decision makers and executives from the logistics industry.

The logistics company said that it had successfully sold an equity stake to Kuwait-based Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC) by issuing $100 million in new shares to GIC.

Tristar supports UN Sustainability Development Goals on road safety

Dubai Economy’s Business Excellence Division in collaboration with Emirates Benchmarking Forum had organized the “Best Practices and Benchmarking Forum 2017”. The highlight of the event was a panel discussion wherein our Group CEO, Mr. Eugene Mayne, shared Tristar’s involvement and commitment towards the UN Sustainability Development Goal No. 3 on “Good Health & Well Being”, especially about Goal 3.6 which states that “By 2020 halve the number of global deaths by injuries from road traffic accidents”. He connected it to the Vision of Dubai Police who wish to achieve “Zero accident death toll by 2020”.

Tristar is named Shipping Company of the Year by Seatrade

The Shipping Division of the Tristar Group was named as Shipping Company of the Year at the Seatrade Maritime Awards held last October 9 at Madinat Jumeirah. The awards recognize the very best of maritime success from across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.

Tristar owns and operates 23 vessels, including products/chemical tankers from 8000 to 52000 DWT and LPG vessels of 6500 CBM, mostly with Oil Majors.
