Tristar in historic tree plantation ceremony

Tristar Group participated in a historic tree plantation ceremony at the Emirates Environmental Group’s (EEG) ‘For Our Emirates We Plant’ event in the Special Bee Reserve – Al Minae- South of Ras Al Khaimah. Tristar representatives Peter Pereira, HSE Officer, and Ashwatha Mahesh, Asst. Manager for CSR and Sustainability, planted two Sidr trees. The Sidr tree is strong, long-standing and evergreen indigenous tree with medicinal values and flowers known to attract and provide for bees.

Tristar to ban non-reusable plastic in its shipping operations at SOHAR Port

The Tristar Group has committed to ban non-reusable plastic materials in its shipping operations at SOHAR Port and Freezone commencing 2019. This was announced at the Sohar Safety Summit with the theme ‘Drive Change in Safety Culture’ which was attended by Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC) officials and users of the Port of Sohar Service jetty. Tristar Ship Management General Manager Henri de Gersigny said: ‘We at Tristar are committed to support the 2018 World Environment Day theme of ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ by refusing items that cannot be reused.” He also urged the participants to support the desired change by getting involved in keeping the environment clean and improving the health of their personnel.

Commemorating World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

The UAE, Oman, Pakistan, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Somalia and Kenya operations of Tristar commemorated World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims by organizing internal and external awareness activities on road safety. In Dubai, the HSE Team launched the campaign ‘My reason for safety… I want to go home to my family every day’ before drivers at the staff accommodation. There are almost 1.3 million deaths from road accidents every year according to the World Health Organization.

Tristar acquires crude oil terminal in Louisiana

Tristar has acquired the 300 thousand barrel Canal Crude Oil Terminal that feeds into the deep water port of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico. It is spread across 50 acres with 18 tanks and is capable of storing almost 350,000 BBLs. It has a loading capability of 3,000 to 4,000 BBLs per hour. The terminal is within the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) which is a deep-water port in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana.

Panelist at Leaders in Logistics Conference

Tristar Group IT Head Adam Lalani (seated left) participated as a panelist at the Leaders in Logistics 2018 Conference held at Grosvenor House, Dubai. Lalani shared his insights in the panel discussion on ‘Mind the Gap – Digital Talent & the Supply Chain’ with three other guests. He said: “Whilst technology is a catalyst for change and improvement in the way the logistics sector operates, it is still important to recognise that we should not lose the human touch in our business interactions with our customers and stakeholders. Additionally, I see that it is vitally important to retain experienced hands who are the best qualified to help us make sense of the large data sets that are collected as a result of using more technology in our industry.”

Oman Cancer Walk

Tristar Oman participated at the 15th Annual Cancer Walkathon organized by the Oman Cancer Association to raise awareness about cancer patients throughout the country. About 8,000 residents and visitors joined the event held at Qurum National Park in Muscat.

Corporate Happiness Award – Private Sector

Tristar was declared the winner of the Corporate Happiness Award – Private Sector at the Daman Corporate Health Awards 2018 held in Abu Dhabi.The Daman Corporate Health Awards, over the past four years, has become an important benchmark of corporate health and wellness across businesses in the UAE. The awards recognize organizations that place importance on employee health and wellness through various programs and initiatives. Tristar Group Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Balaji Nagabhushan received the award.

Tristar Engages with External Stakeholders

Tristar recently conducted an External Stakeholder Consultation Workshop for its forthcoming sustainability report. The workshop was attended by customers, suppliers, government regulators, community partners and a representative of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). The external stakeholders were asked to complete a Materiality Assessment form that contains the 10 principles of the UNGC covering labor, human rights, environment, and anti-corruption.

Plane Pull for Cancer in Guam

The Tristar ‘Terminalators’ won 2nd place at the United Plane Pull which is an annual event that unites Guam residents in the fight against cancer. The proceeds from the event are given to the American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care.

Inauguration of Computer Lab

The Computer Lab donated by Tristar to the Gabat Primary School in Juba, South Sudan, was inaugurated by top government officials of Jubek State and the capital city. This project is in line with Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne’s vision that children should have a sound technology base. Gabat is the first school in South Sudan to offer computer classes for 5th to 8th Level students.
