Tristar UAE staff volunteer at special needs center

In celebration of World Humanitarian Day, 20 staff from Tristar UAE volunteered their time by assisting in the activities of the Senses Residential and Day Care Centre, as part of Tristar ‘My Social Responsibility’ program. The institution is the first and only residential care facility for special needs in the UAE and the Middle East with specialized programs that combine speech and music therapy, art, life skills, sports and physiotherapy for children from the age of two to 19 with mild or severe physical disabilities and Down Syndrome.

Tristar Inaugurates CSR Project in Kenya

Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne inaugurated the company’s CSR project at the Kiserian Primary School in Kajiado County, Kenya, which comprised new sanitary facilities for both boys and girls, with Bio-digesters, modern cisterns and flowing water, and sanitary bins and hand wash dispensers. The school’s assembly area was also renovated to make it a good place for the students to assemble and play especially during the rainy season. The school has a population of more than 2,000 students and almost 50 teachers.

Tristar acquires Shell Chemicals terminal in JAFZA

Tristar Group is further consolidating its presence in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) with the acquisition of the Shell Chemicals terminal in JAFZA in a deal that was signed on July 31 between Mr. Eugene Mayne – Group CEO for Tristar and Mr. Jack Eggels – General Manager Chemical operations EU/AF/ME for Shell. The Shell Chemicals terminal is situated on a 21,000 sqm water facing lot and consists of nine above-the-ground storage tanks with a capacity of 5,505 CBM, a jetty with three pipeline connections to the tanks, truck loading gantry and drumming facility.

Tristar shares Road Safety best practices at Dubai Chamber

Tristar Group Assistant GM for Operations Arundhan Alphones spoke at the ‘Road Safety for Commercial Driving’ seminar organized by the Centre for Responsible Business of Dubai Chamber on July 19 and disclosed that global road crashes cost USD $518 billion which is the total amount coming from 1 to 2% of individual countries’ annual GDP. He cited the statistics from the Association for Safe International Road Travel which also reported that nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year globally, on average 3,287 deaths a day.

Quarterly Safety Meeting

Over 300 drivers and ground staff were addressed by Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne on July 13. Mr. Mayne reiterated to them the importance of safe driving by not using mobile phones while driving which is one of the 5 Tristar Golden Rules on Road Safety.

Tristar wins RoSPA Gold Award

Tristar Assistant GM-Operations Arundhan Alphones received the RoSPA Gold Award on behalf of the Tristar Group at the RoSPA Presentation Ceremonies and Gala Dinner recently held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in the U.K. The RoSPA Gold Award is presented to organizations which have achieved a very high level of performance in health and safety management systems and culture, thereby demonstrating outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss.

International Day of the Seafarer at Fujairah Port and Sohar Port

The Shipping Division celebrated International Day of the Seafarer at Fujairah Port and Sohar Port on June 25 by reiterating to the participants the importance of reducing the use of plastic materials at sea. The call is in line with this year’s World Environment Day (WED) theme which is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. Henri B. de Gersigny, Tristar Fleet Manager, presented the WED video which showed internationally well-known personalities declaring that they will replace plastic materials for eating and drinking with environmentally-friendly alternatives such as reusable stainless steel bottles. After the lecture Tristar hosted dinner which was served in paper plates and wooden utensils.

Tristar Supports Sohar Cup 2018

The Shipping Division supported the recent Ramadan Football League of SOHAR Port and Freezone which saw Orpic C Team win the championship. More than 60 matches were played during the Holy Month which saw the participation of 30 teams with over 500 players. The 11th annual tournament was held starting May 20 with the finals played on June 12 at the Al Arabi Football field in Sohar. This year’s winners and runners-up were awarded by H.E. Sheikh Dr. Said bin Humaid bin Abdullah Al Harthy, the Wali of Liwa, and Mr. Suwaid Al Shamaisi, SOHAR Port and Freezone’s Executive Manager of Corporate Affairs.

Tristar Group’s Jebel Ali warehouses receive DMCC’s 5-star rating

Tristar Group’s two warehouses located in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1 and 2 were awarded 5-star rating by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) for the second and third consecutive years, respectively. Tristar GM-Road Transport and Warehousing, Shivananda Baikady, said: “Our specialized warehousing facilities are designed to accommodate and handle dangerous and non-dangerous goods with stringent adherence to health, safety and environmental standards. We are proud to receive DMCC’s consecutive 5-star rating for our warehouses in industrial areas 1 and 2. It is a reflection of excellence in our day to day operations. The rating is also a sound testament to our best in class warehousing service for major oil companies.”

Tristar Group Celebrates World Environment Day 2018

The global network of the Tristar Group comprising 18 countries simultaneously celebrated World Environment Day on June 5 with town hall gatherings. In Dubai, where the head office is located, Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne encouraged all staff to support this year’s theme of ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ by refusing items that cannot be reused. During the Dubai event colored sketches submitted by children of Tristar staff worldwide were displayed. The colored sketches carried four themes which depicted how to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. “This is a good initiative that will make young children already aware of environmental issues,” said Mr. Mayne.
