Tristar Group is pleased to announce that its joint venture United Stars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has signed a five-year contract with Linde-Sigas, a majority owned subsidiary of Linde in KSA and leading manufacturer of industrial and medical gases. Tristar’s mandate will be to transport these products to Linde-Sigas´ diverse portfolio of clients throughout KSA from five centrally located depots in Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh, Jubail, and Yanbu.
Tristar Group’ has been declared for the consecutive year winner of the Golden Peacock Global Award for Corporate Social Responsibility by the Institute of Directors (IOD), India. The Tristar Team composed of Group Chief Administrative Officer Balaji Nagabhushan, GM for Road Transport and Warehousing Shivananda Baikady, and Assistant Manager for CSR and Sustainability Ashwatha Mahesh received the award from retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India Shri Cyriac Joseph and Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development Rajashree Birla. With them is IOD, India President Lt Gen J S Ahluwalia, PVSM (Retd.). The awarding ceremony was held at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai (India) during the IOD, India’s “14th Annual International Conference on CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY”.
Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne was one of the speakers at the Dubai Chamber’s Sustainability Network Achievements Ceremony last February 24 where member-companies were commended by H.E Hamad Buamim, President & CEO, Dubai Chamber. Mr. Buamin acknowledged the valuable work done by its members in implementing sustainable and responsible practices in 2019 and motivated them to further integrate these practices in the community. In 2019, the Sustainability Network organised 20 events, ranging from high-profile best practices seminar to multi-stakeholder dialogues with more than 384 participants from private and public on topics such as road safety, employee well-being, sustainable supply chain, and waste management.
Tristar conducted a Road Safety Awareness Campaign in partnership with RTA’s Traffic Department to over 242 children at the JSS International School in Dubai. Tristar arranged a ‘Kids Traffic Arena’ in the school where 10 children in a given time can ‘drive around’ in pedal cars and were taught traffic rules like stopping before a pedestrian crossing and wearing seat belt all the time. The idea behind the campaign was to increase road safety awareness among school children who can remind their parents who drive to follow basic traffic rules and road safety guidelines like not using mobile phone while driving.
The precautions to avoid getting infected by the Coronavirus were presented by the HSE Team at the Quarterly Safety Meeting in Dubai. This regular gathering of drivers and ground staff with a number of management team members and external stakeholders like Dubai Police, Dubai Chamber, customers and suppliers also discussed road safety best practices as well as handed awards for safe performers.
Tristar has acquired more than 11,000 square meters of logistic land in the Port of Duqm that will have a 3,048 square meters covered warehouse with a capacity of 5,000 pallet position and an open yard for future expansion. The logistics warehouse project will offer 3PL and 4PL services. Tristar Group is pleased to announce the recent delivery of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Tanker Tristar Ruby to its shipping fleet. Formerly known as the British Ruby, the tanker will be the first LNG vessel to be added to the Tristar fleet of 30 ocean-going tankers. The Tristar Ruby will be on long-term time charter with BP Shipping. Group CEO Eugene Mayne said: “As a group, we are extremely excited with this new opportunity to expand our presence into LNG shipping and look forward to strengthening and growing this new relationship with BP with a strong commitment to safety in operations and high standards of service and excellence.”
Oman Oil Marketing Company appreciated the stringent HSQ Compliance and Customer Focused approach of Tristar Oman by recognizing the company as Transporter of the Year 2019 on December 15 where the Tristar Oman Team shared best road safety practices during the awarding ceremonies. Oman Oil also recognized Tristar’s contributions during transport emergency incidents by providing emergency response support and advise.
Another feather in Tristar’s cap was achieved when it was named Logistics/Transport Company of the Year by MEED Awards. The awards recognized the people and organizations making outstanding contributions to the region’s ongoing growth and development. Tristar won over four regional shipping and transport companies. Tristar has been named Ship Operator of the Year by the Llyod’s List South Asia, Middle East & Africa Awards 2019. Tristar was recognized for its “exceptional performance in ship operations and chartering.” The award criteria stated that “the business that has best responded to the changing commercial and regulatory landscape through new ocean shipping configurations and port pairings, simplified booking and documentation processes, action to reduce ship pollution and other innovations that have made the supply chain more efficient.” Tristar Shipping CEO Chris Peters accepted the award on behalf of Group CEO Eugene Mayne and the Tristar Family.
