Tristar Group is pleased to announce its membership of the Middle East Gases Association (MEGA) of which it will be the very first Category 4 member. Tristar will actively participate in three of MEGA’s working groups, namely, Transport, Safety and Environment. Eugene Mayne, founder and Group CEO, said: “We are delighted to have been admitted as a member of MEGA, and we look forward to collaborating with other businesses in the industry to improve technical standards and safety practices. We are committed to managing our business to the highest health, safety, environmental and compliance standards and relish the opportunity to work with other knowledgeable businesses in this space.”
Mr. Eugene Mayne has maintained his no. 13 ranking in the latest Logistics Middle East Magazine Power List. A total of 50 individuals have been recognized as the most influential executives in GCC logistics. According to the magazine’s editor, the executives were ranked ‘not just according to the size of the company they manage, but according to the influence they have over the regional logistics puzzle’. This is the seventh consecutive year Mr. Mayne has been in the list, ranking no. 22 in 2013.
The Tristar Annual Blood Donation was celebrated in the UAE and Mali on August 19 coinciding with World Humanitarian Day. Staff of both countries donated blood at the Tristar Head Office in Dubai and at the Golden Life Hospital in Bamako, Mali; while staff at the Eldoret operations of Tristar Kenya visited the Holy Family Children’s Home and Dispensary in Eldoret and distributed gift items in commemoration of World Humanitarian Day.
The Tristar Group based in the UAE and the Stevens Group based in the Netherlands have launched the Tristar Hazmat FZCO in the Jebel Al Free Zone which will provide logistics and supply chain management of hazardous goods and substances throughout the Middle East. The joint venture brings together the diverse footprint and established network of Tristar in the logistics and supply chain management across the Middle East providing Stevens with a unique opportunity to deploy its niche products and services across the industry.
Tristar Group Chief Administrative Officer Balaji Nagabhushan (middle) received the “Golden Peacock Occupational Health & Safety Award” for the year 2019 at the recent Institute Of Directors (IOD), India’s “21st annual World Congress on ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT and CLIMATE CHANGE” and Golden Peacock Awards Presentation Ceremony held at JW Marriott Hotel, Bengaluru. Tristar was recognized for its Occupational Health and Safety Management systems in the organization such as the empowerment of all staff with the ‘Stop Work Authority’ card, NMPI reporting system, Quarterly Safety Meeting, and recently with the institution of the APEX HSEQ and Sustainability Committee
Tristar Group received another RoSPA Gold Award for having ‘achieved a very high level of performance, demonstrating well developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss’ in 2018. Tristar Group GM for Road Transport and Warehousing Shivananda Baikady attended the awarding ceremony held at the ExCeL in London, UK.
Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne launched the 7th consecutive Tristar Sustainability Report with a commitment to further support the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Tristar celebrated the International Labor Organization’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work (April 28) and the UN Road Safety Week (May 6 to 12) on May 2 when it rolled out the group’s 2019 safety theme: ‘Safety is an obligation that cannot be achieved on a fix it tomorrow attitude’. In the UAE, a town hall was held with several customers attending where three external stakeholders shared their best road safety practices. A firefighting simulator was set up outside the Tristar head office building in Jebel Ali where employees and guests had an actual firefighting experienced. A number of operations from the UAE and global network also conducted their own activity.
Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne has called on companies in the UAE to support the Global Goals of the United Nations (UN) focused to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all people of the planet. Speaking at the UN Global Goals Workshop, organized by International Quality and Excellence Consultant Sunil Thawani, Mr. Mayne reiterated that business leaders must support the 10 Principles of the UN Global Compact (UNGC) ‘not just by lip service but by action.’ The 10 Principles cover four areas related to human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption and directly contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All the speakers at the Tristar Road Safety Seminar held in Riyadh reiterated that 95% of all road accidents are preventable because they are caused by human errors. Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne said that to reduce road accidents and fatalities drivers should change bad habits like speeding, talking on the mobile phone and not following rules. He added that Tristar will continue to spread road safety awareness in the Kingdom. “I would like to thank Tristar for organizing this seminar, and creating this opportunity to share the knowledge and learn about road safety and for giving us the platform to connect and build the relations with the different organizations,” expressed Miasem Bajowaiber, the only woman speaker at the event held at the Hyatt Regency in Riyadh.
