Tristar Global Safety Day 2017


The Tristar Group celebrated its annual Global Safety Day on April 27 to coincide with the International Labor Organization’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work which was on April 28. The various operations of the global network of the UAE-based fully integrated liquid solutions provider also discussed the same safety day theme that was presented at the Tristar’s head office in Jebel Ali, Dubai.

The theme ‘Think Safe. Work Safe. Be Safe. From Safety Day.…to Every Day’ highlighted the importance of safety not just as a one day action but an everyday activity that should be embraced by each Tristar employee, both on and off the job.

Tristar is present in Haiti, operating in Africa in countries such as Liberia, Central African Republic, Kenya and South Sudan, in the GCC, as well as in Pakistan and in the Pacific island of Guam.

Tristar Group unveils plans to boost Global Expansion


With strategic plans to invest over $100 million (Dh367 million) this year in Central and Latin America, Africa and India, the Tristar Group revealed its global expansion plans focusing on emerging markets for growth. The Group is currently operating its business units in over 15 countries globally.

Tristar Supports ‘Be Safe’ Campaign at Port of Sohar


Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne addressed the opening of the safety conference in Sohar with the theme ‘Be Safe’ held at the Sohar Industrial Port Industrial (SIPC) auditorium on March 27. An international training consultant on Road Risk Management from UK-based RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) was brought in by Tristar to discuss about ‘Safety Leadership’ and ‘Road Transport Safety’ on the same day. On March 28, Tristar GM for HSE, Quality and Sustainability Muhammad Akber shared Tristar’s HSE good practices with the participants who represented the 30 plus companies operating at the Port of Sohar. Tristar also arranged the appearance of Capt. Stephen Bligh of Det Norske Veritas who spoke on ‘Terminal Safety Operations’. Tristar also participated in the exhibition displaying its HSE good practices and various business operations. Tristar’s multi- logistics polymers facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) South


The commissioning of Tristar’s multi- logistics polymers facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) South offers better time in market delivery because of the location’s direct access to Jebel Ali Port, Maktoum International Airport (DWC), and in the future, to Etihad Railways. The strategic location will give it an advantage when serving global customers for imports, exports and re-exports.

Tristar Silver Hessa Visits UAE


One of the six new MR Product Tankers the Tristar Group ordered from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has reached the UAE. Silver Hessa was visited by a management team from Tristar and Eships on February 6 at Port Khalid in Sharjah. Eships was acquired by Tristar in 2016. The group now owns and operates 22 chemical, oil and gas tankers globally mostly with Oil Majors. Silver Hessa is an ECO MR tanker (50,000 DWT) and is fitted with additional fuel saving equipment such as Propeller Boss Cap Fins, New Profile Technology Propeller and Trim Optimization System.

Tristar wins Safety Award in Maritime Industry


Tristar Group’s Shipping Division won the Safety Award at the Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards held on December 7 at the Palazzo Versace Hotel in Dubai. The recognition is testament to Tristar’s philosophy of being a Responsible Business and for promoting a safety culture within the organization. Tristar Shipping GM Shailesh Bildikar (lower right) received the Safety Award. The awards are managed by Lloyd’s List which provides information, analysis and knowledge for business decision makers in a changing and increasingly complex shipping environment.

Regional maritime deal of the year awarded to Tristar


The Tristar Group’s acquisition of German-owned Emirates Ship Investment Company (Eships) for USD 90 million, which was facilitated by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), won as ‘Deal of the Year’ at the Seatrade Maritime Awards. The event was attended by more than 800 of the most high profile and senior industry professionals in the shipping and maritime industry in the Middle East region, including the African continent and Indian Sub-continent.

Tristar receives CSR Label from Dubai Chamber


The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honored Tristar and 20 other companies for their corporate social responsibility and sustainability efforts during a recognition ceremony held at its premises on October 26. Congratulating the honorees for their achievement, H.E. Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber, urged them to continue the good work and inspire other like-minded organizations in their journey to leverage CSR and sustainability in the long run.

Tristar receives prestigious CSR award for road safety campaign


The Arabia CSR Network has awarded Tristar’s ‘Let’s go home safely’ road safety campaign before senior high school students in 2015 under the Partnerships & Collaboration Category of the Arabia CSR Awards 9th Cycle. In 2014, Tristar also won under the same category when it launched the campaign before heavy duty drivers in partnership with Dubai government’s Roads & Transport Authority and UK-based Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
