Tristar wins Golden Peacock Global Award for ESG


Tristar Group was recognised as the winner of the first Golden Peacock Global Award for ESG (GPGAESG), at the 2023 Annual London Global Convention of the Institute of Directors, India (IOD). Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne received the award from Sir Alok Sharma KCMG MP, President of COP26 and Member of Parliament for Reading West, UK, and Lt. Gen. Surinder Nath, PVSM, AVSM (Retd.), President of IOD.

This is the first time IOD has instituted an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) award under its Golden Peacock Awards initiative, after they were first introduced in 1991. Since then, the Golden Peacock has come to be regarded as a benchmark of corporate excellence around the world. In earlier years, Tristar has won four Golden Peacocks for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), two for Occupational Health and Safety, and one for Sustainability.

5th ‘Safety at Sea’ Conference to be opened by IMO Secretary General


The 5th Tristar Safety at Sea Conference will be opened by International Maritime Organisation Secretary General Mr. Kitack Lim. The annual event, dedicated to the well-being of seafarers globally, will be held on November 6 at the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, at The Palm Jumeriah in Dubai.

The IMO is the pre-eminent regulator of the shipping industry globally.  As an agency of the United Nations, it is responsible for measures to improve the safety and security of international shipping and to prevent pollution from ships. It is also involved in legal matters, including liability and compensation issues and the facilitation of international maritime traffic. At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the IMO and other organizations called on governments to designate as ‘key workers’ all seafarers, marine personnel, fishing vessel personnel, offshore energy sector personnel and service provider personnel at ports, regardless of nationality.

Tristar Qatar Inaugurates New Road Transport Facility


The Tristar Group has commissioned a new truck staging station in Qatar with the recent inauguration of its 10,000 sqm facility at the Logistics Park B in Birkat Al Awamer. The facility has a yard that can accommodate safe parking of trucking fleet, an office administration block, warehousing facility, multi-activity automotive service infrastructure, and staff housing.  

The company is transporting petroleum and cryogenics products within the country, as well as across GCC. Its customers are major regional and international companies such as Linde Global Helium, Air Liquide, ExxonMobil, and Gulf Cryo, among others.    

Linde and Air Liquide are leading global helium and gas distribution companies and are currently under long term contract with Tristar for the transport of its products across the GCC. Tristar's 11th Consecutive Annual Sustainability Report

The 11th consecutive annual report covers major achievements in the domain of ESG under the theme ‘Driving Sustainable Logistics’.  The report is compliant with the GHG (Greenhouse Gas Accounting) and GLEC (Global Logistics and Emissions Council) frameworks, in addition to the existing frameworks like Global Reporting Initiative, UN Global Compact, and UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

Tristar has disclosed its carbon footprint through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and is a member of the First Movers Coalition (FMC) launched by the US government and World Economic Forum (WEF) with pledge to purchase products and services that are low or near zero as possible.

Tristar’s consolidated revenues jump 78.3% to $554 million in first half 2023


Tristar Group recorded a substantial 78.3 per cent increase in consolidated revenues to $554 million while EBITDA was up 33.1 per cent to $101 million as of June 2023.

All business segments are growing at the pace of two digits, with the Fuel Farm Segment in particular, recording a big growth due to the contribution of the recently acquired HG Storage International in partnership with Glencore. 

“The acquisition of 51 per cent ownership stake in HG Storage International, finalized in August 2022, strong Maritime market, and the good performance of Road Transport Segment (+ 23% Year on Year), are the main reasons for the strong performance recorded in the first six months of this year,” said Eugene Mayne, Group CEO of Tristar.

Annual ‘Safety at Sea’ Conference on November 6 in Dubai


Tristar Eships, the Maritime Logistics division of Tristar Group, has announced that the 5th edition of the ‘Safety at Sea’ conference will be held on 6 November at the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, at The Palm Jumeriah in Dubai.

‘Safety at Sea’ is a dedicated platform for seafarers, and the safest ways forward for the fraternity, through medical care and social outreach, maritime education, professional training, removing physical and social obstacles, and increasing cooperation and coordination. Tristar Celebrates International Yoga Day


Several Tristar locations celebrated International Yoga Day.

Since 2015, International Yoga Day is observed on June 21 to spread awareness among the masses about the importance of Yoga and its effects upon human health. This year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Humanity’ across the world with great enthusiasm.

Derived from the Sanskrit language the word “Yoga” refers to uniting (with someone) or joining. Ancient Indian sage Patañjali is thought to be the Father of Modern Yoga because he is the person who codified all the aspects of Yoga into a certain format and introduced Yoga Sutras.

Tristar Celebrates Day of the Seafarer


The Maritime Logistics Team (Tristar Eships) of the Tristar Group celebrated 10 days in advance the annual Day of the Seafarer (DotS) with a Health Check-up for 75 crew members and port workers based at the Port of Fujairah (PoF) yesterday, June 15. Doctors from the Fujairah Port Medical Centre also conducted a lecture on ‘Heat Stroke: Causes, Symptoms, and Emergency Management’. A training session on ‘Restricting Enclosed Space Entry’ was facilitated by Capt. Nazeef Siddiqui of Tristar. PoF Deputy Harbour Master Eduardas Ringis said that seafarers are invaluable assets, while Tristar Eships CEO Tim thanked the seafarers for contributing to Marine Environment Protection. Meanwhile, the International Maritime Organisation is asking seafarers to share a picture of the marine environment using the hashtag #OceansWorthProtecting when the DotS is celebrated on June 25.

Tristar ‘pledges’ again to support WED campaign #BeatPlasticPollution


Tristar Group celebrated World Environment Day (WED) at its headquarters in Jebel Ali with two external speakers who shared their knowledge related to this year’s WED campaign #BeatPlasticPollution. The session was live streamed.

Jenson George of Carbon Middle East spoke on the topic ‘Ban Plastic and Then What’ and enlightened the participants about producing more sustainable packaging products and avoiding plastic or plastic-related products. Marina Pugacheva from Quality Indeed Consulting spoke about the ‘Circular Economy’ and explained the importance of recycling plastics and other materials.

Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne addressed the audience showcasing the commitment which Tristar has shown for the last two decades on issues related to environmental protection. He led the ‘pledging’ to ‘avoid single-use plastic and to reuse or recycle plastic that we use’. Tristar Eships and MTM Ship Management announce the    formation of Tristar-MTM Ship Management Pte Ltd, established to maximize value retention for ship owners and investors across the GCC, Africa and worldwide. Headquartered in Singapore with offices in Athens, Dubai and Mumbai, the Joint Venture will be managed by an independent team of ship management professionals overseen by senior members of the Tristar Eships and MTM Ship Management organizations.
