To give you a brief introduction of myself: I came into the UAE in 1976 as a 22-year-old in search of greener pastures. At that time, my goals were simple, work for a few years, save some money, and go back to my hometown of Bangalore. Today. more than 45 years later. I\'m still here and I believe this may sound familiar to many of you in the audience today.

The ‘Golden Rules for Generational Safety’ campaign jointly launched by the Traffic and Roads Agency of RTA and Tristar Group on March 9 has been introduced at the Nadd Al Hamar School in Dubai last May 17. The Tristar Kids Traffic Arena was set up where the students were given the opportunity to ‘drive around’ in pedal cars and are taught traffic rules like stopping before a pedestrian crossing and wearing seat belt all the time.
The idea behind the campaign was to increase road safety awareness among school children who can remind their parents who drive to follow basic traffic rules and road safety guidelines like not using mobile phone while driving. This initiative demonstrates Tristar’s commitment in supporting the UN Global Plan for Road Safety Decade of Action (2021-2030), declaring the ambitious target of reducing 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.

Tristar Group’s agro-chemicals plant in Sharjah has launched a Dangerous Goods (DG) Warehouse and customised powder blending, to serve global customers from its strategic location at Hamriyah Free Zone. Tricore Surfactants Technologies FZC has one of the UAE’s largest manufacturing capacities of agro-emulsifiers and surfactant products, and these new capabilities position it as a regional leader in the manufacture, storage, and transport of speciality chemicals.
Tricore has recently designed , developed, and installed a customized powder blending unit for its customers. The powder blending unit has a capacity of over 10,000 MT per annum. The new warehousing facility will enhance the raw materials and finished product storage capability at the plant.

Tristar Group received two Gold Awards at the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards 2023 held last night, May 4, at The Address, Dubai Mall. Group CEO Eugene Mayne was given the RoSPA Fleet Safety Gold Award for Tristar’s outstanding performance for ‘managing occupational road risk during the period of January 1 to December 31, 2022’.
Mayne received the award from RoSPA President Baroness Judith Jolly and RoSPA CEO Errol Taylor. He was accompanied by Tristar staff Khushnuma Hassan of Business Excellence and Racheal Xavier of CSR and Sustainability.
The second award was the RoSPA Gold Medal for receiving six (6) consecutive Gold Awards for the company’s health and safety performance in the past years. Arundhan Alphonse of Road Transport, Sridhar Srinivasalu of HSEQ and Sustainability, and Zaheer Ul Haq Abbasi of HSEQ received the award from the Baroness and Taylor.

The Tristar Group has been conducting its Global Safety Day every April 28 coinciding with the International Labour Organization’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This Friday, a two-hour hybrid safety awareness program was held at the Tristar Head Office in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE where the company’s safety theme for 2023 was launched, ‘Safety Starts With a Safe and Healthy Working Environment’.
Three speakers were invited to share best safety practices on the road and at the workplace - Thomas Edelmann, Founder and Managing Director of RoadSafetyUAE; Bhanu Nayal Singh, Supply Chain Lead for Castrol Lubricants for MEKSA; and Samir Amer, President and CEO of consultancy and training company LSMS.

Tristar Group recently signed a Joint Business Development Agreement with India-based KP Group to provide long-term supply of Green Energy to industrial and commercial customers in the GCC and India. The two groups will jointly explore green energy solutions including Renewable Energy, Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia. These will support steps towards achieving Net Zero climate targets. The agreement was signed between Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne and KP Group Chairman Faruk Patel.
Tristar Group and Singapore’s Norstar Shipping have established a joint venture company to charter and operate chemical and clean petroleum product tankers.
Norstar Chartering Services DMCC will be based in Dubai and have additional regional offices in the US and Singapore. The JV unit will be led by Norstar’s Olav Ekeberg as chief executive and Mazen Al-Rahim, who is the current managing director of Norstar Group Middle East, as a partner.

Tristar Group won the 3PL and CSR awards at the Logistics Middle East Awards 2023 held at Grosvenor House Dubai.
The jury said on the 3PL award: “Tristar has established a strong foothold as one of the leading 3PLs in the country through the efficient utilisation of its resources, the implementation of technology-driven processes and systems, continuously enhancing its operations to offer a seamless customer journey, and upskilling and empowering its employees to ensure the highest health and safety standards are met.”

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and His Excellency Abdulla Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Economy, graced the Tristar Dubai Global Convention organized by Institute of Directors (IOD), India at Habtoor Palace.
The convention was also attended by Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Honorable Sunjay Sudhir, and Consul General Dr. Aman Puri. Tristar Group CEO, Eugene Mayne, delivered the Keynote Address on March 14, while Group CAO, Balaji Nagabhushan, delivered the Welcome Remarks on March 15.

The Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA in collaboration with the Tristar Group recently launched the ‘Golden Rules for Generational Safety’ at the Zayed Education Complex in Al Barsha. The campaign aims to raise awareness among 100,000 young students in Dubai regarding school safety guidelines via e-mail.
An approximate 10,000 school children will be directly targeted when Tristar sets up a mobile traffic village or a ‘Kids Traffic Arena’ at various educational institutions. The initiative also involved the distribution of innovative gifts with road safety messages and educational brochures accompanied by scientific questionnaires to measure students’ awareness and knowledge trends. About 250 school children participated at the Zayed Educational Complex last March 9. Tristar will be visiting five other schools until May.
